Here's the story behind Pia Wurtzbach's exquisite wedding gown
Without a doubt, Pia Wurtzbach would look great in any gown she would choose to wear on her wedding day. But on her special day with Jeremy Jauncey, the Miss Universe 2015 decided to wear not just a beautiful wedding gown, but a meaningful one, too.
On Instagram, New York-based designer Bessie Besana recalled how Pia, his dear friend, personally asked him to create a custom-made gown for her wedding day.
"On the quiet morning of November 8, 2022, Pia asked if I can have breakfast in a restaurant in SoHo in New York," the designer began.
While bonding over croissants and other people's weddings, Pia casually proposed hiring Bessie for her bridal drip.
"I really wanted a friend to make my wedding dress and I was hoping it would be you," Bessie recalled Pia telling her.
"I want it to be done by a friend, and you know me so much, and I want you to be a part of my wedding," Pia added.
According to Bessie, he wasn't able to respond immediately. In other words, he was too stunned to speak.
"I wasn't able to respond immediately because I honestly didn't think I was even going to be an option," he said.
"I admittedly cried a little inside and felt some tears starting to build up at the end of my eyes because I was sincerely touched by her decision," he added.
Bessie then looked back at how working with Pia on her wedding dress went so smoothly.
"I was so happy with how much trust she has given me with my suggestions and technical decisions," Bessie said.
The designer ended his post by thanking Pia for giving him a fond memory in the name of their friendship.
"Pia, you are truly a great person, and I am eternally grateful for how much you have impacted my life," he said. "Thank you for always believing in me and my craft of fashion."
Over the weekend, Pia revealed that she and Jeremy tied the knot last March 24 on an exclusive island in Seychelles.
The beauty queen wore a strapless figure-hugging gown made of godets, panels, and appliqués. Jeremy, on the other hand, wore a traditional Scottish kilt.
