Rain Matienzo named one of Cosmopolitan Philippines' Women of Influence
Rain Matienzo has been honored as a "woman of influence" by Cosmopolitan Philippines.
The Sparkle star and internet personality was among “eight women who continue to empower Filipinas to be the best versions of themselves.”
In her interview, Rain opened up about her adjustment from TikTok to showbiz, and how she views this new platform as a way to break misconceptions about the industry.
“When I came to terms with the fact that that journey is unique, I looked at how I could influence people with what I already have learned and what I can add to the space,” she told the magazine.
Rain also talked about her trending role as Salome in “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” where she showcased her acting skills. She added that playing Salome also helped in providing representation.
“Being a morena, I don't see a lot of people who look like me in the industry. [Playing Salome made me realize] oo nga no, why can't I be just normal-looking on the screen? Salome was such a beautiful person but so simple,” she said.
Other women honored are actress and musician Nadine Lustre, filmmakers Samantha Lee and Antoinette Jadaone, entrepreneurs Isabelle and Ava Daza, Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan, and Home Buddies founder Frances Cabatuando.
