Celeste Cortesi's gown for Miss Universe prelims has a heartwarming story behind it
Celeste Cortesi was no doubt a stunner during the evening gown competition of Miss Universe, looking gorgeous in her shimmery designer piece.
But what made the dress better is the heartwarming story behind it, shared by Miss Universe Philippines on Instagram.
“In the poem her father wrote for her, he writes that when he was holding her in his arms he knew her name would be Celeste,” the post said.
This is because Celeste means heavenly and sky blue in Italian.
Designer Oliver Tolentino interpreted this story in Celeste’s breathtaking gown, which heavily features blue and silver details.
For the swimsuit competition, Celeste also made a statement with her cape, which represented her advocacy for helping underprivileged youth and their families.
At 11 a.m. today, January 12, the pageant will be holding the National Costume competition, which will also be streamed through the app.
The 71st Miss Universe coronation is happening on January 15 (Philippine time) at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
