'Pugad Baboy' creator designs witty shirt dedicated to '90s kids
The ‘90s were definitely a significant period for Filipino comics, and one of the artists who really made a bang is Pol Medina Jr., the creator of the influential comics series, “Pugad Baboy.”
In line with Buwan ng Wika and their mission to support Filipino creatives, clothing and lifestyle brand Linya-Linya collaborated with Pol to create this limited-edition witty shirt.
According to the brand, to have Pol’s work is a huge milestone and an unforgettable check on the bucket list.
Linya-Linya Creative Director Ali Sangalang in a statement said, “Isa na siguro ito sa pinakamahalagang collaboration namin. Napakalaki ng influence at impact ni Sir Pol sa akin bilang batang writer, sa team namin sa Linya-Linya, at sa napakaraming Pilipino, lalo na sa Batang ‘90s!”
“Nakakatawa at nakaka-relate; ang witty at ang artistic; may lalim at maraming sinasabi tungkol sa’ting mga Pilipino, sa kultura natin, at sa lipunan natin. Maiikling comic strips na talagang tumatatak at malaki ang impact sa marami,” he added.
The collaboration features Linya-Linya’s classic line, “Weight loss, wait lang,” illustrated with the characters of “Pugad Baboy:” Polgas, Bab, and Mang Dagul.
According to Linya-Linya, the shirt serves as a simple reminder to take it easy and not to allow external factors to pressure you into becoming something you’re not.
The shirt is also a tribute to everyone who grew up in the ‘90s!
The “Weight Loss, Wait Lang” shirt is available at www.linyalinya.ph or at their store in Trinoma. —JCB, GMA News
