Robin Padilla pays homage to Mindanao, Muslims in SONA attire

Following his mall-bought barong at this morning’s Senate event, Sen. Robinhood "Robin" C. Padilla paid homage to the culture of Mindanao and Muslims through his outfit at the State of the Nation Address.

For his first SONA, the neophyte senator's attire is created by Francis Libiran.

Padilla—a convert to Islam whose Muslim name is Abdul Aziz—said his attire was made of fine Inaul fabric woven by the Maranaos of Mindanao.

According to a press statement, Padilla's attire combines culture, the Philippines' rich heritage, tradition, and contemporary art to show the class and elegance of the Filipino, while the shades of green symbolize life. – RC, GMA News
