Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza thanks Michael Cinco for evening gown, explains why she didn't wear it
Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza was supposed to wear an evening gown created by Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco during the pageant.
However, the Mexican beauty queen said there was a change of plans because the white dress was "not long enough" for her to wear.
"It was a lovely dress, a white dress," Meza said in a live Q&A via the Miss Universe Instagram account last week.
"But the reason why I didn't wear it was because it wasn't long enough for me. It fitted perfectly, but I could only wear it without heels. And, of course, I wanted to wear heels. That's why I didn't use it," she added.
Still, Meza thanked Michael for sending her "the beautiful dress."
"And I hope, in the future, I can wear other of your designs. You are so talented," she added.
Meza was crowned Miss Universe 2020 last May 17 in a glittering red gown made by Mexican designer Ivis Lenin.
Evening gowns created by Filipino designers became a hot topic after Cinco and his fellow Pinoy designer Rian Fernandez opened up about their unpleasant experience working with Miss Universe Canada.
The MUC organization has issued an apology over the issue.
