Roxie Baeyens’ final gown for Miss Earth 2020 is inspired by the Rice Terraces of the Philippines

When Philippine bet Roxie Baeyens became the Miss Earth - Water 2020 on Sunday morning, she was wearing a gown inspired by the majestic rice terraces of the Philippines.

On Instagram, the 23-year-old Filipina beauty queen posted a photo of herself wearing the green gown called the "Highland Maiden" designed by Rian Fernandez.

"This gown is carefully handcrafted to perfection and inspired with the Rice Terraces of the majestic Cordilleras of the Philippines creating a social balance of the landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between mankind and the environment," wrote the beauty queen, who hails from Baguio.

The post said the bodice "depicts the high rice fields of the Ifugao and the skirt represents the contours of the mountains."

"This Rian Fernandez masterpiece reminds us the sacred tradition to continuously ensure the sustainability and conservation of this living cultural treasure over time," it added.
