For Heart, developing PPE-inspired clothes that offer protection is a 'smart move' for designers

Heart Evangelista thinks it would be smart for local designers to develop washable PPEs that can provide extra protection for people to wear every day, especially now that government is slowly easing restrictions of our lockdowns.

In an episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Heart said the "new normal" PPE-inspired OOTDs she's been wearing and posting on Instagram are different from those being worn by the frontliners.

"'Yung mga PPE na dinde-develop ng kaibigan ko, 'yun yung pwede para sa atin. Hindi siya for hospitals, kasi iba yung material," Heart explained.

She added, "I think PPEs for nurses or for frontliners should remain for them, but I think we need to have extra cover up just to be safe, especially if people will start to go out."

The Kapuso Queen of Creative Collaborations said that with the stylish PPE-inspired dresses and suits, people can have extra protection "and still be able to express our individuality by coming up with different kinds."

Shortly after posting photos of herself donning protective gear like face shields and gloves, Heart on Monday shared photos of herself wearing a piece from Kamiseta's newest line of fashion PPE dresses.

"No, this is not the medical one for doctors and nurses but for those of you who want to stay extra protected while moving around these days," Heart wrote in the caption of her post.

According to Kamiseta, the PPE-inspired line is made with water-resistant fabric, which should protect the wearer from droplets that may be carrying the virus.

"I'm also thinking na sana makagawa sila ng PPEs sa frontliners na hindi ganon ka-init. Alam ko the designers are developing certain PPEs for everyday wear na hindi umiinit. I hope we find the perfect PPE for the frontliners," Heart said. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
