A 24-hour online shopping event that pays it forward
Shopped online last October 17? You may have noticed several hand-drawn illustrations replacing the images of your favorite products. That was Unilever Philippines taking over Lazada’s Super Brand Day to launch Shop2Give, an online shopping event for the benefit of the children of United Nations Children’s Fund or UNICEF.
Unilever’s leading brands participated in the sale event, where their products were replaced with hand-drawn illustrations to bring focus to the beneficiaries for each purchase.
“We want to win with purpose. We want to win while being able to help society at the same time,” says Benjie Yap, Chairman of Unilever Philippines. He says that Unilever stands with UNICEF in its mission to save and improve children’s lives. Ray Alimurung, CEO of Lazada Philippines, says this message resonates with their company as well, “Together with Unilever and UNICEF, we get a chance to deliver not just products but hope, joy, and happiness to children of UNICEF.”
Lazada shoppers enjoyed up to 80% off on Unilever products, as well as ‘buy one, give one’ deals that allowed every shopper to donate Unilever products to children in need. Proceeds from this program will be able to help the children that UNICEF is reaching out to by providing access to education, child protection, clean water, and sanitation.
“It is really, for us, something new and exciting that we are working on together with Lazada and Unilever now, and it couldn’t come at a better time,” notes UNICEF country representative Lotta Sylwander. “We are fortunate to have champions in our midst who continue to explore solutions #ForTheKids – their needs, and their future. This only strengthens our resolve to reach more children as they will be 100% of our future.”
