'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' trailer tips hat at past films as it promises 'one last time'

The curtains are falling over Tom Cruise's legendary journey as Ethan Hunt.

In the new trailer of "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning," Hunt's iconic moments from the past films were brought back to the light: the CIA black vault break-in in the very first "Mission: Impossible" (1996), surviving the Kremlin bombing in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" (2011), and gassing a security briefing in "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" (2023).

Hunt was then shown being brought in wearing handcuffs, having been called for a mission to "bring the world back from the brink."

"Everything you were, everything you've done, has come to this," Hunt is told.

Hunt is also shown saying, "I need you to trust me one last time."

"Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning" is the eight installment in the action spy franchise.

It is premiering in Philippine theaters on May 21. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
