Orange & Lemons releases indie take on The Carpenters' 'Close To You'

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Orange & Lemons released their take on The Carpenters' classic hit, "Close To You."

The iconic OPM band gave the song an indie and modern twist, adding their own guitar solo rolling bass lines, and drum pattern.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro said they first created the cover in 1999, when they were preparing the material for their debut album, "Love In the Land of Rubber Shoes & Dirty Ice Cream."

"I was inspired to create a cover version for live gigs and challenged ourselves to integrate our own sound. It has been a staple since then on our set list. On top of that, I am a huge fan of Burt Bacharach," he said.

"The build up at the end was eargasm for us. It is safe to say, this is infinitely different from any version you can find on streaming sites," he added.

Orange & Lemons is gearing up for an international tour that will take them around Asia and North America. It will kick off on March 2 in Singapore.

The band is known for hits like "Hanggang Kailan," "Pinoy Ako," ad "Yakap sa Dilim." —JCB, GMA Integrated News
