NewJeans announces new group name, 'NJZ'
NewJeans is now NJZ.
The five-member K-Pop group announced their new name along with new photos showing the girls donning chic streetwear.
They also changed their username to @njz_official and the IG name to NJZ. However, their music on Spotify is still under NewJeans.
According to Soompi, NJZ will be performing under their new name for the first time at the ComplexCon music festival, which will be from March 21 to 23 in Hong Kong.
CNN added that they will be debuting a new song at the event.
This name change and new activities comes amid a legal battle with their agency ADOR and parent company HYBE. The group has announced plans to defend the alleged termination of their contracts after alleged maltreatment.
Meanwhile, ADOR said that NewJeans' contracts remain valid.
ADOR filed a lawsuit to reaffirm the validity of NewJeans' exclusive contract to clarify to concerned parties that the contract cannot suddenly be terminated "based on one-sided claims."
NewJeans was last in the Philippines in September 2024, where they performed for Bunnies at the Coke Studio Ultimate Fandom concert.
They first visited the country in 2023 as performers and awardees at the Asia Artist Awards.
