'Blue's Clues & You' host Josh Dela Cruz visits Masungi Georeserve
“Blue’s Clues & You!” host and Broadway star Josh Dela Cruz recently visited Masungi Georeserve in Rizal.
An Instagram post by the conservation area showed the actor wearing a shirt with their logo, a shot of him with the scenic mountain view in the background, and a group photo with him holding a sign that said #SaveMasungi.
“Masungi is now one of my favorite places in the Philippines. I couldn’t believe something like this exists and is continuously threatened,” Josh was quoted as saying.
Masungi wrote, “Thank you, Joshua, for proudly raising the Philippine flag and spending time with our team. Your support means the world in amplifying the call to protect this precious sanctuary!"
Located in Baras, Rizal, Masungi Georeserve is a conservation area, rainforest landscape, and popular hiking destination. It is home to 400 species of flora and fauna, as well as birds, monkeys, lizards, snakes, and many more. The Jurassic Plant, a rare plant that only grows in Luzon, is found in Masungi.
In March, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reiterated that Masungi is a protected forest reserve.
Environmental activist Greta Thunberg, world-renowned primatologist and anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall, Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio, rockstar Sting, SB19’s Justin, and actresses Nadine Lustre and Glaiza De Castro are among those who have joined the call to protect Masungi Georeserve.
