Catriona Gray to hold 'Legacy Ball' for Tondo NGO this November
Catriona Gray will hold a charity ball this November for the benefit of Young Focus Philippines, a non-governmental organization in Tondo, Manila, that offers free, accessible, and quality education to underserved Filipino youth.
The fundraising event, called the "Legacy Ball," will be held on November 22 in the ballroom of City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City.
On Instagram, Catriona wrote that the charity ball is "a full circle moment" for her.
"A full circle moment. Working alongside some of the most passionate people at [Young Focus Philippines] who work tirelessly to serve their community, the question in my heart is always - how can we continue to help?" she said.
According to the Miss Universe 2018, she has been working with the NGO for eight years and her story "has become so closely interwoven with theirs."
The Legacy Ball melds music, fashion, and advocacy — three things that are close to Catriona's heart.
Catriona was only 22 years old when she and her mom, Mita, first visited Young Focus in 2016, per the NGO's website. She has been advocating for accessible education for the youth, from her Miss World era to her Miss Universe reign and beyond.
One of her most memorable moments at Miss Universe 2018 was during the Final Word portion — the Q&A of the Top 3 candidates — where she referenced her work with the children in the informal communities of Tondo.
She continues to be involved with Young Focus as an advocate.
In January 2020, she celebrated her 26th birthday with the NGO, spending the day singing and dancing with the students and staff.
In the same year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Catriona raised P1 million for over 790 families in Smokey Mountain in Manila in coordination with Young Focus.
