On social media, the Intramuros Administration announced that they will be offering a free guided tour at the historical landmark on Thursday, October 31, starting at 5 p.m.
With this activity, guests will have the chance to explore the citadel and “uncover the secrets of its dramatic past.”
To avail of the free guide tour, all you have to do is proceed to the Intramuros Visitors Center (IVC) located inside Fort Santiago.
Tickets to Fort Santiago are priced at P75, whereas discounted tickets for children below 18 years old, senior citizens, students, persons with disabilities, and government employees are priced at P50.
In the past, the Intramuros Administration reminded the public to respect Fort Santiago because it is sacred ground.
"Countless have suffered died here as victims of war and other crimes against humanity. To ensure that the sanctity of the place is maintained, only activities that promote remembrance, commemoration, and contemplation are allowed," it said.
Built in 1571 by the Spaniards, the Fort Santiago located in the Walled City of Intramuros was built as a defense fortress of the Spanish government. During World War II, the site served as a headquarters and a prison for men, women, children, and soldiers.
Some of the memorable spots inside Fort Santiago include the ruins of American and Spanish barracks, Museo ni Rizal, the dungeons, and many more.
