Max to launch in the Philippines: Subscription plans, pricing, and everything else we know about it

HBO Go will turn a new leaf next month as it becomes Max on November 19.

All existing HBO Go subscriptions will automatically become Max subscriptions and users will be directed to the new streaming site.

Home to brands like HBO, Harry Potter, Cartoon Network, and the DC Universe, Max will also bring some programming from Discovery, TLC, AFN, Food Network, ID, and HGTV.

There are three plans on offer, with subscriptions available from the App Store and Google Play:

  • Mobile (1-month plan at P149 and annual plan at P1040) will allow you to stream on 1 mobile device with standard HD video resolution. It has a max of 15 downloads so you can watch on the go and as its name suggests, you can only watch on mobile and table.
  • Standard plan (1-month plan at P269 and annual at P1,890) will let you stream on 2 devices at once with full HD video resolution. It allows 30 downloads so you can watch on the go, and you can watch MAX from more devices including TVs.
  • Ultimate plan (1-month at P399 and annual at P2,790) will let you stream on 4 devices at once with 4k UHD and Dolby Atmos where available. You can go up to 100 downloads so you can watch on the go, and you can watch on more devices including TVs.

Subscribers can access Max on mobile, and they can create up to five unique profiles that they can customize.

Apart from localization (hello subtitles!) Max prides itself with a more intuitive navigation. Subscribers can save their favorite content on My Stuff, download content, and allows for kid-friendly viewing.

When it arrives on November 19, Max will premiere "Dune Prophecy" from the expanded Dune universe.

Meanwhile the first content from DC Studios, "Creature Commandos," will premiere on the platform on December 5.

"Game of Thrones," and "House of the Dragon" will be available on Max, as "Friends," "The White Lotus," "The Penguin," and others to name a few.

Max's arrival to the Philippines was first announced earlier this month. According to the announcement, Max will also launch in six other Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
