FDCP to screen 7 Cinemalaya 2024 films at Cinematheque Centers this October
PSA, film buffs!
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) will screen a curated selection of seven films from Cinemalaya 2024 beginning October 22 to November 9.
The screenings, priced at P200 each, will be held at the FDCP's Cinematheque Centres in Manila, Iloilo, Davao, Nabunturan, and Negros.
The event is supported by Cinemalaya and FDCP's CreatePHFilms, a program that provides funding to Filipino filmmakers to support them in the different stages of production.
The films to watch for are "Tumandok" by Richard Jeroui Salvadico and Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay, "Gulay Lang, Manong!" by BC Amparado, "An Errand" by Dominic Bekaert, "Alipato at Muog" by JL Burgos, "Kono Basho" by Jaime Pacena, "Love Child" by Jonathan Jurilla, and "Kantil" by Joshua Caesar Medroso.
"Tumandok," in particular, won big at Cinemalaya 2024, bringing home the Best Full Length Film, Best Screenplay, NETPAC Jury Award for Full Length Film, and Best Original Musical Score awards back in July.
The film features an all-Ati cast speaking in their own language, Innate, and follows the indigenous community's struggle to reclaim their ancestral land.
Aside from the screenings of select Cinemalaya 2024 films, the FDCP is also streaming films from the 8th Indie-Siyensya Filmmaking Competition through its JuanFlix Channel until November 8.
