Cine Europa to hold free screenings of 20 European films starting October 18

Cine Europa is back!

Cine Europa 27 will be held from October 18 to 27 at the Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong City, bringing in 20 compelling films from European Union Member States, Alliance Française de Manille, Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes, the Philippine Italian Association, and guest country Ukraine.

All of the screenings are free on a first-come, first-served basis.

The film fest will open with the Polish film "Dangerous Gentlemen" (2022) by Maciej Kawalski. The crime comedy tells the story of Joseph Conrad and three other Polish artists who wake up to a dead man on their couch following a party.

The lineup features a diverse range of films, including drama, horror, documentary, comedy, a biopic, and an animated film, among others.

Viewers should watch for the award-winning Hungarian animated film "Paw" by Robert-Adrian Pejo, which tells the story of Zoli and his rescue dog Paw. The family drama won the Children Jury Prize at the Buhcarest KINOdiseea - International Children Film Festival and Best Film at the Kiev Children KinoFest.

Guest country Ukraine also has two films to look forward to, namely "Taste of Freedom" by Alexander Berezan and "Another Franko" by Igor Visnevsky.

"Taste of Freedom" follows the story of a cook whose dream is to be a chef at a renowned restaurant. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery after finding a cookbook by the famous chef Olga Franko.

"Another Franko," on the other hand, is about Peter Franko, the son of the great Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko. The film sheds light on Peter's life, legacy, and mysterious death.
