Want to catch a free film this weekend?

Kapuso director Zig Dulay's award-winning indie film, "Bambanti (Scarecrow)," is set to be screened for free on October 20, 2 p.m., at the Metropolitan Theater (MET) in Ermita, Manila.

The 2015 film follows the story of Belyn (Alessandra De Rossi), who works as a servant for Martha (Shamaine Buencamino). One day, Belyn's son Popoy (Micko Laurente) gets accused by Martha's daughter Cristy (Delphine Buencamino) of stealing a golden watch, leading the community to shun Belyn and Popoy.

Other cast members include Julio Diaz, Lui Manansala, Erlinda Villalobos, Abegail Edillo, Kiki Baento, and more.

Those interested to watch the film may register online here.

"Bambanti" has won several awards locally and abroad, including Best Film at the 2015 Festival International du Film de Bruxelles in Belgium, Hilal Best Feature Film at the 2015 Ajyal Youth Film Festival in Qatar, and Indie Movie of the Year at the 2016 PMPC Star Awards for Movies, among others.

Direk Zig's other films and series include the award-winning "Firefly," "Black Rainbow," "Maria Claria at Ibarra," "Widows' War," and more.

The upcoming screening is presented by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the MET, in collaboration with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Solar Pictures, and Center Stage Productions through the Mga Hiyas ng Sineng Filipino program.

The program's goal is to bring some of the most significant Filipino films back to the big screen.
