New 'Superman' teasers reveal Krypto the Superdog
Superman will have his furry companion with him in the upcoming live-action film by James Gunn!
The director and DC Studios CEO shared teasers on his X page, among them a clip of Superman and Krypto gazing down at planet Earth.
This is the first time that Krypto is showing up in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). According to Gunn, Krypto was inspired by his own dog, Ozu, "who we adopted shortly after I started writing Superman."
He shared that Ozu came from a hoarding situation with 60 other dogs, and "never knew human beings."
"He immediately came in & destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture - he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him. I remember thinking, 'Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?' - and thus Krypto came into the script & changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life," Gunn wrote on X.
"What better time to debut the not-so-good-good-boy Krypto than #AdoptAShelterDog month. Btw, Ozu today, is, fairly often, a very good boy," he added.
"Superman" is slated for theater release on July 11, 2025. It stars David Corenswet, who replaces Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel.
Gunn earlier released a first look image as Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, and released the official logo.
Superman was last seen in the 2017 film "Justice League."
