5 Zerobaseone songs to introduce you to the rising K-pop stars

Zerobaseone, one of this generation's rising K-pop boy groups, is back in the Philippines for their first-ever major concert “Timeless World” tour in Manila on Saturday!

Composed of Ji Woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han Bin, Matthew, Kim Tae Rae, Ricky, Gyu Vin, Gun Wook, and Yu Jin, the rising boy band was formed through the reality competition program Boys Planet in 2023.

Upon debuting, the nine-piece band achieved massive success in the K-pop scene, earning the “Rookie Grand Slam” status, and sweeping 10 Rookie of the Year Awards from different award shows, a feat that only seven groups have done so far.

They four EPs, and five singles under their belt and continue to captivate their beloved ZEROSEs with their charm, vocals and dancing abilities.

If you are just discovering the boys, here are five songs from their discography to listen to that will make you hooked up with their music.

1. In Bloom

“In Bloom” is the lead single for their debut album “Youth in Shade,” released in 2023. Upon its release, the song quickly caught the public eye, with its music video quickly amassing over 6 million views on YouTube in just a span of 24 hours.

International publications didn't miss out on the song. New York-based Business Insider ranked "In Bloom" number eight in their list of the best K-pop songs of 2023 while Dazed placed it at 22 in their list of Top 50 best K-pop tracks of 2023.

It was also included in “The 25 Best K-Pop Songs of 2023” list of Billboard.

2. Good So Bad

Zerobaseone has many good upbeat songs in their discography, and one of them is “Good So Bad.” It's the lead single of their latest album “Cinema Paradise,” which they dropped in August.

According to the boys, the song is about an unrequited love of a man. "It's a song that expresses the most honest feelings of being deeply in love," Zhang Hao explained. "We tried to capture the bittersweet feelings of love, where you're so happy you're afraid of losing it."

He also described it as "Zerobaseone's own brand of hyper-positive romantic comedy," in which even seemingly tragic stories get their happy endings.

3. Feel the Pop

A refreshing and summer track, "Feel the Pop" was the lead single for their third EP “You Had Me at Hello," released in May 2024.

The song lyrics convey a desire to create a memorable experience that allows young people to set aside their doubts, worries, and concerns.

4. New Kidz on the Block

The dance-pop song “New Kidz on the Block” is the third track of their debut album “Youth in Shade" and talks about Zerobaseone's introduction to the K-pop scene and describes the group's determination to rise to the top.

5. Hello

“Hello” proves Zerobaseone can be balladeers, too!

Included in their “You Had Me at Hello” album, the emotional song is one of the best ballads of the group.

Co-written by Day6 member YoungK, the song is about connection and the feelings evoked by meeting someone for the first time, whether they be a long-lost friend or a new acquaintance. It also explores the feeling of joy, nostalgia, and the value of connections in our lives.
