Rosé of Blackpink to release first studio album 'Rosie' in December
Rosé of Blackpink has formally announced her first studio album, “Rosie!”
On Instagram, the K-pop singer posted the album art — a close-up portrait of her sporting curly hair.
In her caption, she wrote, “Where to begin. I cannot believe I am finally announcing my first album release to you all.”
She said that after the year-long tour with Blackpink, she had a studio session in Los Angeles, which led to more sessions, "writing songs with songwriters and producers I’d met for the first time, trying to figure out the next chapter in my career.”
After “feeling confused and lost,” the singer said that support from her friends, family, team, and fans, motivated her to finish the full-length album.
“I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine,” she said.
Rosé also explained the meaning behind the album’s name.
“’Rosie’ - is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me.”
Pre-orders are now open.
Rosé is signed with The Black Label, which is under YG Entertainment, and American label Atlantic Records. She previously teased new music with a photo in the studio.
Aside from her work with Blackpink, Rosé released the solo singles “On the Ground” and “Gone” from her 2021 single album “R.”
In December 2023, the group renewed their contracts for group activities with YG Entertainment but not for individual activities. Rosé is the only member of Blackpink who did not launch her own record label.
