‘The Boy and the Heron’ to stream on Netflix beginning October 7

"The Boy and the Heron” is heading to Netflix.

On Facebook, Netflix Philippines announced that the critically acclaimed film by Hayao Miyazaki will begin streaming on its platform on October 7.

"The Boy and the Heron" is Miyazaki's first feature film in 10 years.

It follows a boy named Mahito, who lost his mom in the bombings of Tokyo during World War II. When he and his father move to the countryside, he encounters a talking heron, which leads him to another world with the promise of meeting his mother again.

"The Boy and the Heron” won an Oscar for best animated feature film and best animated motion picture at the Golden Globes.

"The Boy and the Heron" premiered in Philippine theaters in January.
