Jennie of Blackpink kicks off new era with fandom name; label clarifies it's not official

Jennie of BLACKPINK kicks off new era with fandom name

Jennie of Blackpink on Thursday marked her new era by seemingly launching her fandom name.

The singer’s record label Odd Atelier posted the link for the website jenn.ie. Upon opening the site, fans are prompted to create an account, before being led to an audio clip of Jennie calling them “Rubies.”

“Hi Rubies, it's Jennie. Stay tuned and see you soon. Love you, Bye!" Jennie said in the six-second recording.

Odd Atalier's official X account also shared a post using the hashtags #Jennie, and #Rubies.

However, K-pop fans were quick to point out that singer Kwon Eun Bi's official fandom name is also “Rubi.”

According to a report on Soompi, an official from Jennie’s record label addressed the misunderstandings, and said that "Rubies" is not official.

"We only referred to fans arbitrarily on the news page where we deliver news to fans. We did not officially announce the fandom name," a translation published by Naver said.

Netizens have begun calling for an official statement from the record label.

This is Odd Atelier's first post since Jennie signed a deal with Columbia Records in early September.

Jennie is set to unveil her new solo single in October through this new partnership.

In 2019, she made her solo debut with the song "SOLO." Her most recent single, "You & Me," was released in October 2023. Two months later, she launched her own label, Odd Atelier.

Jennie also broke records when she teamed up with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the song "One of the Girls," which has been streamed over one billion times on Spotify as of writing.

She starred alongside them for the HBO series "The Idol."
