Kuya Kim joins Médoc Marathon anew in France

Kuya Kim just participated in the 38th edition of the Médoc Marathon in France!

According to "24 Oras" on Thursday, this is the Kapuso host's fifth time to join the marathon, held every September in the Médoc region.

Racers of the marathon run through picturesque chateaus and vineyards while in costume, with wine-tasting stops along the way.

Kuya Kim and his team donned Greek gods and goddesses costumes for the marathon, which they were able to conquer.

A marathon is a long distance race that spans 42.195 kilometres. Per Kuya Kim, the term "Marathon" originated from the legend of a Greek messenger named Pheidippides.

He added that according to legend, the Greek courier ran from the town of Marathon to Athens in 490 BC to announce the victory of the Athenians against the Persians during the Battle of Marathon.

Meanwhile, the modern marathon that we know today began in 1896 during the Summer Olympics in Athens. A Greek man, Spyridon Louis, was the first-ever gold medalist of the Olympic marathon.
