BTS lands on Billboard's 'Greatest Pop Stars of 21st Century' list

BTS has once again proved they're at the top of the game as they clinched the 19th spot on Billboard's list of the Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century.

In an article, Billboard said that the group has “broken through ceilings for boy bands, K-pop and South Korean artists in general,”  and created a “meaningful” community that is inspired by BTS’ message of “positivity, love and connection.”

“No K-pop group — or group in general — has been able to accomplish what Bangtan has this century. From creating a global community to expanding K-pop well outside of its genre and delivering seven successful pop star solo acts, BTS truly paved the way,” it added.

The music magazine also credited BTS’s success on Billboard, Grammys, and the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) for their influence as a K-pop artist.

Currently, the supergroup has six Billboard Hot 100 No 1’s Songs, Billboard 200 No. 1 Albums, five Grammy nominations, 10 VMA wins, and 12 Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) trophies under their belt.

Billboard also noted the seven members' individual success in their solo careers, with Jungkook and Jimin being cited for their two Billboard Hot 100 No 1 hits achievements, 26 Hot 100 entries, and 10 Top 10 Billboard 200 albums.

BTS debuted in 2013 and is known for their chart-topping songs “Dynamite,” and “Butter,” among others.

The BTS members are currently serving in the South Korean military. Jin was already discharged in June. The group is expected to reconvene in 2025. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
