Manila International Book Fair 2024: Book shopping, talks, signings, more await on Sept. 11-15

The Manila International Book Fair 2024 is fast approaching!

The biggest and longest-running book fair in the Philippines is making a return from September 11 to 15 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

More than just a book shopping affair, the MIBF is a celebration of all things literature and reading, bringing together bookworms, publishers, and authors under one roof.

This year's MIBF has pulled out all the stops for a jam-packed fair, featuring a slew of international and local exhibitors, as well as special events like talks, workshops, signings, and storytelling throughout the five days.

The book fair's exhibitors will take over the ground and second floors of the convention center. To better plan your visit, the fair's floor plans may be viewed here.

MIBF 2024 will feature various talks and workshops not just specific to literature, but also other pertinent topics like mental health, artificial intelligence, how to pitch, heritage, art, and more.

Some of these special events include "Komiks (and Games) as Educational Material," "Don't Lose Your Marbles: Mental Health Support for Teachers and School Personnel," "Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace: Spotlight on Libraries," "The Art & Science of Eating," "How to Pitch Works to Filmmakers," "Heroic Heritage," "Batang Lampara, Batang Kwentista 2024," and "Artline Brush Calligraphy or Basic Book Illustration," among many others.

On Day 4 of MIBF 2024, National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee will hold a book signing for "Kabilang Sa Mga Nawawala" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stage Area, 2/F Function Room 1.

Meanwhile, journalist Patricia Evangelista will hold a book signing for her memoir, "Some People Need Killing," from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stage Area, G/F Hall 1.

Entrance to MIBF 2024 is priced at P50 for adults and P35 for students, faculty, librarians, senior citizens with ID, persons with disabilities, and children below four feet.

In celebration of Teachers' Month this September, teachers who present their school or PRC ID get free admission to MIBF 2024.

Teachers may also avail discounts and promos from participating exhibitors, as well as giveaways (until supplies last).
