Channing Tatum wants his own Gambit movie following 'Deadpool & Wolverine' cameo
Channing Tatum was one of the shining stars in "Deadpool & Wolverine," following his cameo as the hero Gambit.
Wielding his playing cards, Gambit won over audiences' hearts, and made people laugh with his difficult accent.
In a interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Tatum said of the experience: "I could cry."
"I could get really emotional because I've been actively in the industry trying to play that character in the last 20 years," he added. "And I was like, in third grade, throwing playing cards at my friend in the living room."
Tatum said that he had worked on a Gambit standalone film at Fox for six centuries, but just as they were going to make the movie, Fox got bought by Disney.
Marvel President Kevin Feige told Tatum that he loved Gambit, but "I just don't know how to do it right now, I don't know how he fits into what we're doing, I need to have a minute to figure it out."
"We've sort of cracked a little bit of the code so hopefully," Tatum said.
When asked about finally getting his own Gambit film, Tatum said, "I would kill kittens."
"I would do lots of terrible things to make that happen," he added.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" opened in Philippine cinemas on July 24.
Led by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, it has now passed the $1 billion mark in global ticket sales. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
