Frankie Pangilinan drops new single 'Romeo'

Frankie Pangilinan is in love with her dream boy in her new single, “Romeo.”

The singer, who goes by Kakie, paints a picture of star-crossed lovers in the upbeat pop song.

Kakie shared more about the song’s process on Instagram, along with photos from her official photoshoot and behind-the-scenes moments.

According to Kakie, “Romeo” is part of an upcoming conceptual album and she started writing songs for it in 2020.

“’Romeo’ had a slot on a theoretical track list right away because of a character I wrote up in a series of fantasy novels still in-progress,” she said.

The song went through the Filipino boyband Kindred and their member Cavill.

“This was the first thing we ever made face to face post-pandemic, and already was a firm indicator of our combined work style. we still never seem to tire of playing tug of war with any song we make—we have whole and strong ideas that sometimes clash, but always come out as something else, new and better-sounding and entirely unplanned,” she said.

Kakie also thanked the song’s producers and her band.

“Lastly I want to thank everyone who waited ([especially] if you still remember all the old lyrics [because] of my ridiculous indecision),” Kakie said.

“Your patience is something I don’t deserve but will always be so thankful for. I love you so much! Thank you for sticking around!” she added.

Frankie is the eldest daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan.

Kakie’s songs include “TYL,” “Battlescars,” and “Afterparty.”

In 2023, she wrote a song for Sharon and Kindred titled “Megastar (Interlude).”
