Russo Bros. reportedly in talks to direct next two 'Avengers' movies

Are the Russo Bros. returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

According to a report on The Hollywood Reporter, Joe and Anthony Russo are in "early talks" to direct the next two "Avengers" movies.

The duo directed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014), "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019).

Initially, the fifth "Avengers" movie was titled "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, starring Jonathan Majors as Kang. Following Majors' domestic violence conviction, Marvel cut ties with the actor. The film is set to get a new name and focus, the report said.

The sixth "Avengers" film is "Secret Wars," a storyline focused on an all powerful antagonist known as the Beyonder, the report added.

"Avengers 5" is slated for May 1, 2026, while "Secret Wars" is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027.

Phase 1 of the MCU concluded with "Avengers: Endgame."

The next Marvel films to look forward to are "Deadpool and Wolverine" on July 26, and "Captain America: Brave New World" on February 14, 2025. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
