According to its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the film will be produced by MAPPA, the animation studio behind "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Attack on Titan" Season 4.

A teaser video has also been released, showing Queen Marie Antoinette arriving in France and encountering Royal Guard commander Oscar François de Jarjayes.

Miyuki Sawashiro will voice Oscar while Aya Hirano will voice Marie Antoinette. Toshiyuki Toyonaga and Kazuki Kato will voice André Grandier and Hans Axel von Fersen, respectively.

Hiroyuki Sawano will do the musical score.

"Rose of Versailles" is a manga created by Riyoko Ikeda and originally published in 1972. It was first adapted into an anime series in 1979.

It is set in France before and during the French Revolution, following a mix of historical and fictional characters.
