'House of the Dragon' renewed for Season 3

"House of the Dragon" is getting a third season!

HBO announced the show's renewal days prior to Season 2's premiere on Monday.

"House of the Dragon" is a “Game of Thrones” spinoff series co-created by Ryan Condal and original author George R.R. Martin.

Based on Martin's "Fire and Blood," the series is set 172 years before the events in "Game of Thrones," when the Targaryens are at the height of their power.

It stars Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II, Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent Hightower, Ewan Mitchell as Aemond, and Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen.

The eight-episode second season of the HBO Original drama series will premiere on June 17 on HBO and HBO GO.
