‘Playtime:’ 5 exciting things about Xian Lim, Sanya Lopez, Faye Lorenzo, and Coleen Garcia's latest thriller movie
"Playtime," starring Xian Lim, Sanya Lopez, Faye Lorenzo, Coleen Garcia has hit the big screens.
The latest movie collaboration of GMA Pictures and Viva Films, "Playtime" explores the entangled lives of three women, Allyson (Sanya), Roni (Coleen), and Patricia (Faye), and the incidental adventure that came as a result of their deceitful encounter with Lucas (Xian).
It's a heart-stopping affair with good dialogue that puts forward a very clear message. Totally worth your time, if you ask us, but allow us to explain further.
1. Xian Lim’s creepy characterOn "Playtime," Xian is far from the romantic handsome lead we've come to know of him from his numerous romantic movies and TV appearances.
He plays the character of Lucas, a creepy and mysterious man with a soft demeanor who lures three girls (Sanya, Faye and Coleen) and hunts them down in a forest.
Who knew that behind that angelic face and soft spoken personality is a devil in disguise? No one. Looks can be deceiving indeed.
2. Sanya Lopez’s acting prowessLike Xian, Sanya’s acting prowess is a definite highlight of "Playtime." As Ally, she is born to fight.
"Playtime" highlighted her strong-willed persona and unwavering fighting spirit to defeat the evil in Lucas’ form despite the odds on the way.
3. The peppering of comedic scenes
Faye Lorenzo’s character Patricia, is charming and bubbly and made “Playtime” so endearing to watch. Perhaps thanks to her "Bubble Gang" training, Faye's funny antics, comedic timing, and punchlines provided the breath of fresh air to the heart-stopping thriller.
Watch for Sanya's comedic moment, too. She did a funny dance in front of Lucas, much to his delight and the audience's.
4. Lesson learned: ‘Don’t talk to strangers!’Movies always impart a great lesson to its viewers, and “Playtime” made sure to leave one to the audience to ponder.
The universal message of the film is clear: Do not talk to strangers. It might be lame for others, but it’s an important reminder that we should always live by.
5. The power of woman
If we are talking about the power dynamics of women, “Playtime” is in for some conversation.
Despite the striking differences in Patricia, Ally and Roni, the three had ultimately one goal: To escape from Lucas’ evil hands.
Their different personalities were able to meet at one point and were able to devise a plan to defeat the evil that is Lucas. Their winning ammunition? Their collective power.
Directed by Mark Reyes, the director behind “Encantadia,” “Playtime” is a movie that will surely leave you on the edge of your seat.
It is now showing in 200 cinemas nationwide.
