UDD drops new pop song 'Nanaman'

UDD is back with a new track, a pop song titled “Nanaman.”

The trio of Carlos Tañada on vocals and lead guitars, Ean Mayor on drums and samplers, and Paul Yap on bass and synthesizers, dropped the new single with old-school pop and modern electronic influences. They composed, arranged, and produced the song, with additional vocals by Trish Lorenzo.

Lyrics-wise, “Nanaman” speaks about a couple who choose to stay together despite the difficulties.

The song is UDD’s second release as a trio. Their comeback song “Run Deep” featured a heavy electronic sound, a huge contrast to the acoustic songs the band previously released.

UDD is the band behind some of OPM’s classic hits like “Oo,” “Tadhana,” and “Unti-Unti.”

Their former vocalist and keyboardist is Armi Millare left the band in 2021. Before her departure, they released the music video for “Tambalan” and performed "Paagi," the ending song for "Trese" on Netflix.

In an exclusive interview with GMA News Online, Armi called life after UDD "an uphill climb," but that that change was needed.

"I wanted the life I had in that setup since I was really young," she said. "I've been such a dreamer my whole life, I forgot the reality that we all change and that more than half of who we are will need to evolve or our spirit dies."

Armi has released the solo singles “Roots” and “Whatever,” and is set to release her debut solo album “South Node” this year.
