Penn Badgley, Brandy, and Monica star in Ariana Grande's MV for 'The Boy is Mine'
Ariana Grande’s music video for “The Boy is Mine” is one star-studded affair!
The six-minute video starts with Ariana covering up a pink potion and watching Brandy and Monica, who play newscasters.
The R&B queens are behind the ‘90s hit “The Boy is Mine.” In the MV, they speak about newly elected mayor Max Starling (played by “You” and “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley), who promised to bring immediate change to their city that is dealing with a rat infestation. Mayor Max then sends out hungry stray cats to solve this issue.
It is later revealed that Ariana was actually creating a love potion for the mayor, and that she keeps a lot of his photos at home.
The singer-songwriter then transforms into Catwoman who jumps over buildings. She makes her way to the mayor’s home and makes him drink her love potion. However, Mayor Max breaks the bottle.
The credits show the two in a living room and taking care of a cat.
“The Boy is Mine” is part of Ariana’s comeback album “eternal sunshine,” released in March. It also includes the singles, “yes, and?” and “we can't be friends (wait for your love).”
Her last album “Positions” was released in 2020. She briefly returned to music as part of The Weeknd’s “Die For You” remix, which dropped in 2023. Ariana also released the 10th-anniversary edition of her debut album “Yours Truly” later that same year.
