'Peaky Blinders' film set for Netflix with Cillian Murphy returning

A "Peaky Blinders" movie is in the works at Netflix!

The streaming giant made the announcement with a photo of the script, confirming that Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the feature film.

Creator Steven Knight will write the script, and Tom Harper, who helmed the second half of the show's first season, is set to direct.

"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. … It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans," Murphy was quoted as saying.

"Peaky Blinders" is a period crime drama set in Birmingham, England. It follows Tommy Shelby, who leads the Peaky Blinders gang and gets nabbed by inspector Chester Campbell.

It first started airing in 2013.

In 2022, Steven Knight announced that "the TV series will be coming to an end," but that "the story will continue in another form."
