9 fun facts we learned about TWICE during their Manila fanmeet press conference

TWICE really are one in a million!

The nine-member girl group of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu were in the Philippines last weekend for the Oishi Snacktacular fan meeting at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Before the girls reunited with their Filo ONCEs and showed off their competitive sides, they met with the Philippine press and shared some reflections about their tour and how it felt to be back.

Here are nine fun facts we learned about TWICE!

1. If TWICE would go on a vacation in the Philippines, what would they like to do?

Momo said that if she would ever come back to the Philippines, she would like to try popular restaurants with all the members. But if she had to choose just one, she would love to go with Jeongyeon because she “thinks it would be fun.”

Jihyo said during the press conference that she had previously visited the Philippines with her family and they tried out snorkeling.

“The view of the beaches were really nice. So I want to come back again to the Philippines,” she said, through a translator.

2. A trivia from the 2019 concert

Dahyun shared this behind-the-scenes tidbit from their first solo concert in the country in 2019 for their Twicelights World Tour.

The artist shared that she was feeling under the weather at that time.

“I was kind of sick during the event itself. But I was really good on stage and professional.”

3. The girls are so happy to be back in the Philippines

It’s TWICE’s third time to be back in the Philippines, and they are so happy to be reunited with Filo ONCEs!

Even from their first visit in 2019, they felt all the love.

Tzuyu said, “When we first visited Manila in 2019, the passion and support of the Filipino ONCEs for us were really overwhelming and very touching.”

For their second visit in 2023 where they were able to perform two sold-out shows at the Philippine Arena, Jeongyeon expressed gratitude to the fans who waited.

“The second visit here was for the Ready To Be Tour and we were able to have an opportunity to perform in a bigger venue. And a lot of fans have waited for four years for us to perform here again. But the overwhelming support and how they waited for TWICE was really touching as well,” she said.

4. Their favorite Filipino snack
 
As the newest endorser of Filipino snack brand Oishi, TWICE said they can’t get enough of Miggos, or corn chips that come in sweet corn and nacho cheese flavors.

Even though their commercial shoot was done in South Korea, the girls were always looking for stocks of these chips.

At the airport before flying out to the Philippines, Jeongyeon said that she was able to hand out some packs of the chips to the media, and they said they loved it.

The members are also curious to try halo-halo one day because it reminds them of Korean bingsu or a shaved ice dessert.

5. The song they dedicate to Filo ONCEs

It was very easy for TWICE to name the song they will dedicate to their Filo ONCEs, and it is none other than “21:29.”

The song from the group’s “Feel Special” EP is written by all the members and serves as a love letter to their fans. The girls sing about appreciating ONCEs’ love and support. They promise to never forget ONCEs and dedicate their success to them.

6. Extending their contract is a core memory

TWICE said that extending their contract with their agency JYP Entertainment in 2022 was one of their most memorable moments as a group.

During the press conference, the members nodded in agreement that this is just the beginning of a “forever” with TWICE.

7. A special tour memory

TWICE is fresh from performing in giant venues all across the world for their Ready To Be World Tour, which concluded in February.

For Dahyun, her favorite memory was seeing all the fans since TWICE songs. She said she was surprised to see fans memorize the songs and sing along the whole time, despite these being in Korean.  

8. How they will celebrate their 9th anniversary

Nine members, nine years!

TWICE is celebrating their ninth anniversary since their debut this October.

According to Tzuyu, it has been so long since the members have gone on a vacation because of their hectic schedules but they will make sure to spend this milestone together.

“We have already reserved a restaurant as well for all members to gather and eat together,” she said.

9. TWICE has this advice for dreamers

TWICE has very wise and touching advice for dreamers and aspiring artists who want to follow their footsteps.

After discussing with the members for a bit, Momo said, “Although life is hard and we tend to get sad, don’t give up. And just be happy and enjoy to reach those dreams.” —JCB, GMA Integrated News
