Pia Wurtzbach expresses support for Christi McGarry in Miss Universe Philippines 2024

Pia Wurtzbach showed her all-out support for her Binibining Pilipinas 2015 batchmate Christi McGarry, who is competing in Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

On Instagram, Pia posted photos of her and Christy through the years, from when they first competed in the local pageant to the present. She said that they “grew to be really good friends through the years.”

“Christi was always proud and supportive of me,” Pia said. “When I was going for Miss Universe, not even for a single moment did I feel she didn’t want me to win or that she wished for me to fail."

She added, “Christi worked hard and had big dreams too. She knew one day her time would come. She wanted to be Miss Universe too.”

Pia said that since Miss Universe lifted its age limit rule, Christi has a chance to go for her dream again.

“With unwavering support, she’s back in the game,” Pia said.

She continued to hype up her friend, who has built a career as a model, host, DJ, entrepreneur, and environmental advocate and said that “this girl isn’t afraid of the grind.”

“I believe in her as much as she believed in me. Christi’s a well rounded woman, respectable, kind, professional & and a STUNNER,” Pia said.

“I’m so proud of her growth and courage. If Miss Universe were tomorrow, she’d be ready,” she added. “Our next Miss Universe might just be her.”

Pia was crowned Miss Universe in 2015.

Meanwhile, Christi was previously crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2015 and finished first runner-up in Miss Intercontinental 2015.

She is representing Taguig for Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

The Miss Universe Philippines preliminaries gala night is happening on May 19, 7 p.m. at the Fiesta Pavilion, The Manila Hotel.

On May 22, the organization will hold the grand coronation night where Michelle Dee is set to crown her successor.

Aside from the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 crown, four other national crowns will be given to four other candidates.

Confirmed performers at the coronation night are “RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. The World” top 4 queen Marina Summers, OPM band Lola Amour, and Thai actor Win Metawin.

Alden Richards, Gabbi Garcia, Tim Yap, Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, and Jeannie Mai will serve as the hosts.
