Beabadoobee releases new single 'Take A Bite,' to release album in August
Bea is back.
Beabadoobee dropped her latest track “Take A Bite,” the lead single from her third studio album “This is How Tomorrow Moves,” which is coming out on August 16.
With its taut guitars, piano, and soft vocals, “Take A Bite” speaks about the desire for chaos and the self-awareness of bringing past negative cycles into something new, but still indulging in them anyway.
In a press statement, Beabadoobee said that the song is a reflection on her thoughts “and unhealthy way of living.”
“It's finding comfort in a familiar place—finding comfort in chaos, because that’s what I know,” the singer said.
“So I bring it into every aspect of my life, especially with relationships. And it's just tapping into this part of my brain where I just jump straight to the most negative, most chaotic thought ever known to man and make and make that into my reality.”
Her third album, “This Is How Tomorrow Moves,” sees beabadoobee stepping up to a new level as a songwriter, with its striking melodies and discovering new layers of both in her storytelling and her relationship with herself.
“I love this album,” she said. “I feel like it’s helped me so much more than anything else has in navigating this new era, this new understanding of where I’m at. I guess it’s about becoming a woman.”
“I think I’m more aware of my actions in these songs,” beabadoobee added. “In my previous records, I would consistently sing about my reaction towards other people's doings, like a blame game. But in this record, it's accepting that there's an inevitability of my fault in there too. Whether it's childhood trauma or relationship issues, it takes two to tango in everything.”
Beabadoobee, the Filipina-born, UK-raised musician, had her first concert in Manila in 2022. The music video for her viral single “Glue Song” was filmed in her hometown, Iloilo.
She was part of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, where she was the opening act for several dates at the North American leg.
Previously, she performed at top music festivals Glastonbury and Coachella, and is set to headline the New Music Stage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
