Afraid of the sun? Try indoor wall climbing for your summer workout
Do you dream of mountain climbing but you don't want to be exposed to the sun? No worries, because this indoor wall climbing in Marikina City will make you feel like you've reached the peak of the mountain!
As seen in Dano Tingcungco's report in "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, a gym in Marikina City offers an indoor wall climbing area 30 feet high and divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced areas.
For beginners, it might look hard and scary at first but with proper warm-up techniques, you can reach the top successfully.
To kick off your wall climbing journey, gym instructor and coach Gerry Santiago Lopez said that participants must first do the stationary bike warmup, planking, and some exercise routines.
Planking is important to build up your core muscles and abdomen which you will need in climbing the course.
Meanwhile, the exercise routine called the kettlebell routine is important to train the hand grip that will allow you to grip the rope tighter.
Aside from the warmup routines, they also teach participants how to put on the safety harness and helmet properly, and most important of all, how to put chalk powder in the hands and feet to avoid slipping while climbing.
According to Lopez, there are no weight restrictions in wall climbing as long you can finish the course successfully.
"Ito kahit payat mataba ka basta kaya ng core mo makakaakyat ka," he said.
