'Five Breakups and a Romance' tops Prime Video’s weekly movies chart

Upon its debut on Prime Video, “Five Breakups and a Romance” instantly made waves on the platform.

According to Prime Video, the Alden Richards and Julia Montes-starrer clinched the top spot in the streaming platform’s Top 5 Weekly Movies chart in its first week.

It was followed by the romantic comedy film “Upgraded" and the iconic “Legally Blonde.” Also in the list are “This is Me…Now: A Love Story” and “Five Blind Dates."

Five Breakups and a Romance” premiered in theaters in October. It follows the love story between Lance (Alden), a medical student, and Justine (Julia), an OFW in Singapore. The couple meet, reunite, fight, reconcile, and separate in an emotional journey showing the reality of relationships.

The blockbuster film directed by Irene Villamor, who is also the genius behind "Meet Me in St. Gallen" and "On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets," garnered P100 million in earnings.

The film previously had screenings in Australia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Canada, Guam, and Saipan.

It began streaming on Prime Video on February 14.
