Melai Cantiveros turns into an Avatar flight attendant in 'Appa Air' ad for Netflix
We don't have a sky bison, but perhaps Appa Air would do!
Netflix just released a hilarious ad for the so-called "Appa Air," starring none other than
Melai Cantiveros.
The video kicked off with flight attendant Melai announcing that the flight, "ATLA 222," is bound for the Philippines. She recites the iconic intro to the original "Avatar: The Last Airbender" cartoon, before returning to herself and apologizing for the "mental turbulence."
She then recites the in-flight reminders, and demonstrates her elemental powers.
"In compliance with aviation rules, no firebending is allowed, too," she says. "Okay?"
She also promotes Philippine destinations in the ad, namely Coron, Palawan (Water), the Chocolate Hills in Bohol (Earth), the Mayon Volcano in Albay (Fire), and the Bangui Windmills in Ilocos Norte (Air).
Netflix's live action adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is set to premiere on February 22.
It is based on the Nickelodeon animated series that ran from 2005 to 2008. The story follows Aang and his friends — and their sky bison Appa — as hone their skills and attempt to end the Hundred Year War in order to bring back peace among the four nations.
It stars Gorden Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.
