'Percy Jackson' renewed for Season 2 at Disney

Next stop: The Sea of Monsters!

"Percy Jackson and the Olympians" has been renewed for a second season on Disney Plus.

The official Instagram page of the show shared author Rick Riordan's statement following the announcement.

“I can’t wait to bring the next season of #PercyJackson to @DisneyPlus," Riordan said. "Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We’re heading for the Sea of Monsters!”

Disney's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" live action series adapts Riordan's popular book franchise of the same name.

The first season adapted the first book, "The Lightning Thief." The next in the series is "The Sea of Monsters."

Riordan has been hands-on in the show's production, including the casting.

The story tells the story of Percy, a once normal boy who discovers he is the son of Poseidon when he comes of age.
