Disney formally announces 'Moana 2' for November 2024

Our favorite island girl is swimming back to the big screen for "Moana 2"!

Disney just formally announced the long awaited sequel to the well-loved animated movie "Moana," along with a video teaser and a first look image.

The teaser shows Moana blowing a conch shell by the shore, while the image shows her and Maui on a boat, being guided by a whale.

According to the film description, "Moana 2" will follow Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

"Moana 2" is set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024.

The first film, "Moana," was released in 2016.
