What will you do if you win the lotto jackpot? Keeping your lottery ticket safe is the first step
Do you have “alaga” numbers and regularly join the lottery?
A lone winner was announced for the Grand Lotto 6/55 last night, winning P698.8 million.
In Thursday’s episode of “Unang Hirit,” Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Mel Robles shared tips on what to do when you come across the winning numbers.
"If you placed a bet in a traditional outlet, write your name and sign the back of the lottery ticket," he said.
It’s crucial not to damage the ticket, as it needs to be readable by the machine for you to claim your prize.
Robles explained that the prize can be claimed as early as the day after the draw. "If the prize is more than P300,000, proceed to the PCSO office and present two government IDs to claim the prize," he added.
Since the processing is done on the same day, the jackpot can be claimed in one go and is given via check.
Meanwhile, winners residing outside Metro Manila need not worry about rushing to claim the jackpot, as they have one year to do so.
When asked about what they would do if they won over half a billion pesos, several netizens expressed their plans to use the money to build houses for themselves and their loved ones, while others would save it for tuition fees and daily needs.
