Ely Buendia visits UP Diliman: ‘A trip down memory lane’
Ely Buendia got fans feeling nostalgic with recent pictures at his alma mater, the University of the Philippines Diliman.
The OPM legend and his friend and UP roommate, Chappy Umali, rode their big bikes to the campus’ Molave and Kalayaan dorms, where they took pictures around the area, including UP’s famous street food joint, Mang Larry’s Isawan.
Ely called it “A trip down memory lane.”
Fans in the comments section couldn't hide their sentiments, as they shared lyrics to the Eraserheads’ song “Minsan,” (Minsan sa may Kalayaan tayo'y nagkatagpuan/ Minsan tayo ay naging tunay na magkaibigan).
UP Diliman is where the Eraserheads were formed. Ely, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro were students who had one goal in mind: to perform at the steps at the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy or Palma Hall, more commonly known as AS Steps to UP students.
The Eraserheads reunited in 2022 for the sold out "Ang Huling El Bimbo" concert at the SMDC Festival Grounds, playing a wide range of their songs for a crowd of 75,000 fans.
The band also embarked on a world tour in 2023, starting in the US and Canada.
Meanwhile, the musical, “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” which featured at least 40 of the Eraserheads’ lyrics and melodies was restaged in April.
They also helped out in covering Parokya Ni Edgar's guitarist Gab Chee Kee’s medical bills, by signing a guitar that was auctioned and sold for P1.3 million.
