Barbie launches 'Women in Film' doll collection

It's Barbie's world, and we're just living in it!

Barbie will feature women in film in its latest doll collection.

According to a report by Variety, toy company Mattel announced that their annual "Career of the Year" collection this year will feature four movie-making roles where women are often underrepresented.

"Barbie doll celebrates more than 250 professions with a blockbuster Careers set featuring four movie-making roles together. Highlighting positions in which women are underrepresented, the Women in Film collectible set includes a Studio Executive, Director, Cinematographer and Movie Star," it said on its shop website.

Barbie's newest "Career of the Year Women in Film" collection will become available on the Mattel Shop website, Amazon, Target and Walmart starting January 10.

Each doll showcases a professional outfit and accessories related to her job.

The Studio Executive Barbie is sporting an office attire with yellow sunglasses and a smartphone.

Cinematographer Barbie is clad in a purple "Chase Dreams" t-shirt and carries a clipboard.

The Director Barbie is wearing a denim jumpsuit while wearing headphones and holding a script.

Meanwhile, the Movie Star Barbie is in all glittery pink gown and holding a trophy.

The four new Barbies join the more than 250 career dolls that have been released since the brand's "Career of the Year" franchise was launched in 2010.

According to Mattel, they want the Barbie to serve as inspiration to young kids to explore the world and follow their dreams.

The "Barbie" movie directed by Greta Gerwig, which was based on the fashion dolls by Mattel, became the highest-grossing film of 2023, earning $1.4 billion.

Since its theatrical release, the movie reaped awards left and right including the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement at the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards.
