It has been days since this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival rolled out its ten participating films, including “Firefly,” which recently won awards from the recent Gabi ng Parangal!

Directed by Zig Dulay, the film follows a young boy who is on a quest to find the magical island of fireflies from his mother's stories.

On Wednesday, the GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs film won the Best Picture and Best Screenplay awards at the MMFF 2023 Gabi ng Parangal.

It stars Euwenn Mikaell, Alessandra De Rossi, Dingdong Dantes, Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Epy Quizon, and Yayo Aguila, among others.

Mikaell won the Best Child Performer at MMFF 2023. De Rossi was nominated for Best Supporting Actress while Dantes and Quizon were nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Among those who praised the film were veteran journalists Howie Severino and Jessica Soho.
