Catriona Gray celebrates 5th Miss Universe crowning anniversary with Mayon Volcano-inspired photoshoot
Catriona Gray marked her fifth Miss Universe crowning anniversary with a fierce, mythical photoshoot.
On Instagram, the Filipina-Australian beauty queen shared some photos of her clad in a lava and fiery gown and sporting red hair.
“A force to be reckoned with,” she wrote.
The 29-year-old then spread optimism about making and bringing vision to life, hoping they would capture the universe's attention one day.
She then reflected on her Miss Universe journey saying that it was a manifestation of her words.
“I am so incredibly grateful,” the Bicolana added.
Ending her post, Catriona expressed appreciation for all the people who celebrated with her in her journey to the Miss Universe crown five years ago, and a promise to conquer “more mountains.”
In an earlier post, Catriona described her pageant stint as a "comeback story that was rooted in failure.”
Catriona is the fourth Filipina to be hailed as Miss Universe after Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), and Pia Wurtzbach (2015).
During her the 2018 Miss Universe pageant, she wore a fiery red gown called the lava gown inspired by the Mayon Volcano in Albay, where her mother Normita Magnayon was born.
Before joining Miss Universe, Cat tried her luck in the 2016 Miss World competition, where she finished in the Top 5.
Aside from being a beauty queen, Catriona is known for her hosting gigs, having hosted Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Universe in the past.
Her talent in hosting earned her the Best Female Host award at the 2023 Aliw Awards.
In February, Catriona got engaged to her boyfriend, actor Sam Milby, after nearly years of dating.
The couple revealed their relationship in 2020 and they plan to tie the knot in 2024.
Happy anniversary, Queen!
