Award-winning journalists Jessica Soho, Kara David commend the heartfelt storytelling of 'Firefly'

Christmas is only 12 days away, signaling the upcoming opening of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Among this year's entries is “Firefly,” produced by GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures.

Directed by Zig Dulay, “Firefly” had a special screening last night, graced by its stars and Kapuso celebrities.

According to Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras,” Wednesday, award-winning journalists Jessica Soho and Kara David also watched the movie and they have nothing but praises for its storytelling.

“Nakaka-proud din kasi ang simple ng storya pero ang powerful at napaka-ganda ng storytelling,” said Jessica.

[I feel proud because the story is simple, but the storytelling is powerful and very beautiful.]

“Pitong beses ako umiyak, iyak ako ng iyak sobrang ganda ng pelikula,” added Kara.

[I cried seven times; I kept on crying. The movie is so beautiful.]

Aside from the veteran journalists, the cast of “Voltes V: Legacy” also loved how the movie highlighted an adventure that kids would love, the beauty of Sorsogon, and how important respect and love are.

The “Voltes V: Legacy” cast came to support Miguel Tanfelix and Ysabel Ortega who are part of the “Firefly” cast.

Firefly” is a coming-of-age drama that tells the story of Elay and Tonton, played by Alessandra de Rossi and Euwenn Mikaell, respectively.

The film’s director, Zig Dulay, is happy that they were able to spread the message of the movie to its viewers – how love makes us brave.

“Nakakatuwa kasi kung ano ‘yung pakiramdam naming magmula pa noong bago pa naming gawin ‘yung pelikula, na-transcend siya doon sa pelikula. As a filmmaker, as a director, sobrang saya ng pakiramdam na naipaabot mo ‘yung pakiramdam na gusto mong maramdaman ng mga manonood,” Direk Zig said.

[It's delightful because the feeling we had since we started making the film transcended into the movie. As a filmmaker, as a director, it's such a joyful feeling to convey the emotion you want the audience to feel.]

The movie will also have a special participation by Kapuso Primetime King, Dingdong Dantes.

“Firefly” will premiere in Philippine cinemas on December 25.
